Truro Plaza PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 22 January 2007

It looks like that there is going to be a Plaza being built in Truro shortly...

Over the last 3 or 4 months a small group of skaters (Mat Perham, Simon Harvey, Stuart Titmus, Leo Smith and Jody Smith) have been working with a professional designer (Anthony Greenwood) designing the new skate plaza for the city of Truro. The plans are now completed and are being put forward for planning permission. The plaza will be situated at Hendra where the old ramp is based. This will surely be a great thing for skateboarding in Truro and will hopefully put Truro on the tour schedules of all the big skate companies. Fingers Crossed everyone!

Penzance Concrete Carnival PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 02 September 2005
The Concrete Carnival went off with people travelling from all over the UK to skate. Weather for the event was perfect and a thoroughly good weekend was had by all. Ben Raemers could have clinched first place had he landed the McTwist on the vert wall. However victory went to Mattias Nylen who didn't appear to do the same trick twice all weekend. Third went to powerhouse Nicky Cornell. This event also featured a masters section boasting names from the past like Dave Davies and Stefan Harkron as well as the usual suspects like Trawler and Sean Goff. Dossett cruised to vistory in this section with his typical effortless steez. Thanks to all the sponsors for supporting a quality event: Vans, Eastpak, Oakley, Creme, Potato Wheels, UKVM, X-Elements.

Could this be the Livi Fun Day for the other end of the country?

Below is the letter we recieved regarding the Penzance Concrete Carnival.

Don't you wish all press releases were like this?

Dear Scum,

You are hereby formally invited to attend the Vans Concrete Carnival Event in Penzance on August Bank Holiday Weekend (27th & 28th).  There's over £1000 in prize money up for grabs as well as shit loads of product (including XBox's).

Sponsors for the weekend are Vans, Oakley, Eastpak, Creme Skateboards, Potato Wheels, Jones Soda, UKVM, X-Elements magazine and South Shore Skateshop.

Obviously this means quality/quantity of prizes and a guaranteed carnage inducing product toss.
The comp will run over 2 days and consists of pro/sponsored, unsponsored and masters categories.  There's also a Snickers best trick comp on each day for cash.  The comp will be run in a jam format and judged by the UKSA.

I've invited pretty much everyone I can think of inviting but please feel free to invite anyone else you can think of.  Vans and Eastpak are bringing down their teams for starters.  We're expecting a good turn out so hopefully this will be a great event and most importantly a good laugh.

Below are travel details, hotel details attached, anything else you need just give me a shout on 07710 325728.

Hopefully I'll see you there for a drink or two,

Regards
Nic Powley
Event Organiser and General Tosser
