Red Bull is proud to announce the arrival of Manny Mania in the UK. The competition, which has been a huge success in the States, will see some of the best manual tricksters, amateur and professional, battle it out on an original manual pad configuration in an attempt to be crowned 'Manny Champ'
The contest will be run as an open, jam session format. This exciting approach will see talented unknowns pitch their skills against some of the countries best. The competition will have four initial feeder rounds with the top four riders from each session progressing through to the Final in London on 25th October.
UK skater Kris Vile comments: ‘It’s nice to see some creative thinking in the competition scene. Red Bull Manny Mania will give people the chance to bring their Manny skills to the table and show off their skills. I can’t wait.’
The competition, which anyone can enter, will be held in four UK cities. These will be as follows:
LEEDS Saturday 4th October 2008 Saviles Hall, Armouries Drive, Leeds, LS10 1LT (on Clarence Dock opposite The Royal Armouries)
BRIGHTON Saturday 11th October 2008 The Old Flexers Sack Building, Camden Street, Portslade (Behind the Harbours View pub)
BRISTOL Sunday 19th October 2008 St. Paul's Cathedral, Portland Square, Bristol, BS2 8SJ
LONDON Saturday 25th October 2008 York Hall, Old Ford Road, Bethnal Green, London, E2 9PJ
Doors will open at 12pm (midday) and competition will begin at 12:40pm.
Red Bull UK will be working with skater owned company King Ramps to create the manual pad and promote the event. Pete King comments: ‘It’s good to see that Red Bull Manny Mania will be focusing on this aspect of true street skating. This comp will showcase all the shocking talent we have in the UK in this niche element of street skating, which is often overlooked at other competitions.'
Please check out the event myspace for more info.
Both competitors and spectators will need to register at one of the following core stores:
LEEDS Exit BRIGHTON Route One BRISTOL 50/50 LONDON Slam City Skates

The Prime Minister is being urged through an online petition to make play provision a statutory service. The Welsh Assembly recently voted to make play provision a statutory service for local authorities in Wales, and now Gordon Brown is being urged to roll this out through the rest of the UK. The new service will ensure that local authorities emulate those in Wales and provide a good play service for children and young people. It ensures investment in the next generation, and will help to combat the looming obesity crisis.
The above news applies to funding and sites put aside for skateboarding facilities... So, get signing !
