"It's time. It's been time. ESPN's always a little slow on the uptake. It's no secret that the vert field has stayed the same for the last decade. It's no secret that there aren't any vert ramps for kids to ride outside Southern California. If you want a vert career, you have to move there," says X Games General Manager Chris Stiepock.
The full story is here
No ramps outside Southern California? Off the top of my head, and listing only those regarded as comptetion standard in the UK how about Ramp City in Blackpool, Creation in Birmingham, Adrenalin Alley in Corby? How about King Ramps portable ramp, which ends up at events all over the UK each year? As for the vert field staying the same for the last decade - For the first time in the past decade we have a group of up and coming kids capable of moving into the professional ranks within the next few years. Gone are the 2000 Am competitions with twenty-something man-ams struggling with basic airs. We've got the new breed, fifteen years younger than the current heavyweights and should they continue on heir current learning curve then we've a lot more to see from the vert side of things yet.
Go check out one of the dates for the Independent Vert Series if you dont believe me.
