01. The Skatepark Process PDF Print E-mail

1.1   This document is designed to give an insight regarding the skate park process. It is not designed as a step-by-step guide to obtaining a facility but contains information which, when applied to individual circumstances, increase the likelihood of long-term sustainability.

1.2 The main activities covered within the wheeled “action sports" genre include skateboarding, in-line skating,. BMX. There is no single body representing the interests of these activities and no definitive national statistical data available to identify the number of participants.

1.3 A number of "best practice" models and processes are outlined in this document which will assist planners, contractors and purchasers to ensure that new facilities meet current and future demands. In so doing, clear evidence relating to the facilities' sustainability prior to capital expenditure will be demonstrated.
