Some of the money is to be spent on extending the existing skatepark in Central park.
The council has won a grant from the Big Lottery Fund to create a unique water play area and extend the popular skate park. The council-designed water play area will be built close to the site of the existing playground in Central Park - and feature cascades, water cannon and seaside themed adventures. The skate park extension follows on from the success of the facilities which opened in Central Park last year - and will meet users wishes to add a flat land area to encourage beginners and less confident skaters, BMXers and inliners. The new features are the first step towards Council Leader Jeremy Kite’s plans to restore Central Park’s Edwardian splendour with proposals to reinstate a bandstand, create an ecology area and build a tea room - ensuring there’s something for everyone. Dartford Borough Council will fund £50,000 towards the project. For more information about Central Park and to see the plans, visit www.dartford.gov.uk/centralpark |
