A long awaited skate park at Lochside Park in Castle Douglas is now open.

Work on the skate park finished on schedule and it’s already being used by skaters and BMX bikers.

The members of the United Skate Foundation (USF) are delighted that all their hard work has paid off. They are pleased with the way the skate park has turned out and look forward to doing as much skateboarding and BMX-ing as they can over the Easter holidays.

The group is planning an official opening event on Saturday, June 20. It promises to be a fun-filled celebration of finally having a skate park in Castle Douglas.

Robin Smith, USF chairperson, said: “I’m extremely pleased that, after so many years of campaigning by the USF, we have finally reached our goal of getting a skate park in Castle Douglas. I hope the skate park will give enjoyment to the people of Castle Douglas.”
