Prissick plaza is soon to introduce a new membership scheme in order to use the plaza.
The Plaza, off Marton Road in Middlesbrough, has proved a massive hit with young people from across the town and beyond since it opened back in 2005.
The facility attracts up to 80,000 visits a year by BMX bikers, skateboarders and roller skaters, mostly aged between 11 and 18. The decision has now been taken to introduce a membership scheme at the site to help meet increased staffing demands and improve safety and security. And those that the Gazette spoke to using the park said they were in favour of the proposals. From this month, those using the park will have the option to pay £3 for a day pass or a £10 charge for an annual membership - giving them unlimited access for 12 months. The extra revenue generated will then secure additional staffing at the site and will enable special events to be held at Prissick, with the first likely to take place this summer.
