Skater Owned Shops

Skater Owned Shops (SOS) are started by people with a love for skateboarding and the want to further it within their community as opposed to only seeing a hole in the market and a way to make some cash. These stores are generally a hub for the local scene.
The very best advice is on offer as the shop owner has very probably ridden all of the products they stock, seen all of the DVD's for sale and worn holes in every type of shoe they sell.
Without SOS's involvement in their local scene we wouldn't have some of the good parks which are cropping up. We wouldn't have local kids who may never have looked past their local kerb being taken on to national and international levels. We wouldn't have some of the competitions and demos for these kids to attend. We wouldn't have strong UK brands being supported so well.
All this and the fact that they take on the role of a cinema when a new DVD is released, a workshop when a board needs to be replaced, a library for the magazines they stock and a rain shelter/youth centre for the days when skating isn't on the cards.
This area of the UKSA site is devoted to the SOS' who are furthering the UK scene. New interviews will be appearing continually and will be added to the list below.
Support them, as without them we'd be in a far poorer situation.
