End finally in sight for town's skatepark

WHITBY'S long-awaited skate park could be open in time for Easter as a contractor for the project has been found.

The £150,000 project has been five years in the making but now the end is in sight.

Paranoid Park

Starting off as a review of Gus Van Sant’s new film, Paranoid Park, this Guardian UK website story wonders into skate culture film makers including Stacy Peralta and Spike Jonze. The author even brings up Adams, Hosoi and Gator.

This Larry Clark quote is pretty interesting: “There is more life in a skateboarder skating down the street than in a hundred Hollywood actors.”

To celebrate the films release on 26th December, the folk behind it are running a competition giving you chance to win a video camera among other things.

The comp is on Sat 26th Jan at Central Skate Park Manchester from 12pm - 6pm prize money is £1000 for the over 18s comp and there's loads of giveaways for under 18s comp. The outside area of the skate park will be used to host graffiti workshops and demos from Europe's finest artists.
