National Governing Bodies for Sport: A Database of Design and Technical Information

This hyperlinked document provides a database of existing National Governing Body of Sport technical guidance related to the design, construction and maintenance of sporting facilities and will hopefully serve as a useful single portal for the general public to access this information

The UKSA's guidance on skatepark provisions is included in this.

Following the below link for access to SportEnglands general design guidance information:

Hertford Bowl, Hertfordshire
News - South East
Thursday, 15 November 2007

East Herts County Council have just spent £100,000 on Freestyle Skateparks newest build.

Located in Hartham Common, near the Leisure Centre - the bowl will be open in a few weeks once ROSPA have signed it off.

The bowl sinks to 4.5 foot in the shallow and 5 foot in the deep. It is inspired by Fitzroy Bowl , Melbourne - a spot which has been heavily sessioned for years.

Hertford Bowl has the addition of a ledge - which can be skated from both the bowl and flat. I've been told that this is something the Melbourne locals have recently built themselves as an addition to their bowl.

Roll on the first sessions in December.

Skateboard Coaches Wanted
News - Other News
Monday, 12 November 2007
Action Sports in Schools is currently looking to recruit skateboard coaches as we look to expand into other areas of London and counties around the country. In the programme our coaches visit colleges, primary schools and secondary schools introducing skateboarding to the kids. The aim is to not only to introduce a great sport to more young people, but to try and increase physical activity in young people by introducing more relevant sports which catch their interest. The scheme has been a great success so far in parts of London, Hertfordshire, and Bedfordshire, and we are now receiving significant interest from more schools throughout the U.K.

The hours of work will usually be after school between 3.30 and 5.30, usually a couple of days a week. We offer good rates of pay, and this is a great opportunity to take part in a fun, fulfilling and rewarding scheme that is met with much enthusiasm in every school we go to.

If you would like more information, or would like to work as one of our coaches, please do not hesitate to email Zinnia on This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .
