Park plans skate back on agenda

8 December 2007

Lincolnshire Echo

Skaters from across Lincoln are being asked to support a new park bid for the city.

Lincoln Skate Park Project is now considering building a plaza-style facility on King George V's Fields, between St Giles and Glebe Park.

The scheme comes after hopes for an outdoor skate park with ramps and pipes were dashed earlier this year when a landowner withdrew his support.

Save Harrow Skatepark
News - London
Monday, 03 December 2007

It is under stood that Harrow Skate Park is to be bulldozed to build houses. This will also allow it to make way for the new park.

The original skatepark has stood where it currently resides since 1976.  This has been part of the history & heritage of Roller Skating, Skateboarding and BMX biking not only in Harrow but also internationally. It is one of only a hand full of 1970's Skate Parks left in this country, remaining. This is part of our history and should be saved from being filled in.

Ideally, we would like it refurbished for future generations to use. This is a facility which is fantastic for Harrow council, London and England and that can't be re-built. It has a great aura and atmosphere that can’t be made anywhere else.  It keeps the young and old off the streets and is a great recreation space for all, participants and viewers.

Harrow Skate Park is a genuine historical park and NEEDS to be preserved for the future generation. For the history of British Skateboarding as well as Skateboarding the world over - Save Harrow Skatepark!
